HOUSE M1

This project integrates family living with workplace needs, including an office and meeting space for IDP Architecture, staff accommodation, storage, and a workshop.

A double-volume atrium forms the centre of the building, bringing it all together in a multifunctional space, which serves as an outside-in family area on the weekend and a functional and impressive meeting space for the business.

It is also central to the building’s passive energy management, achieved through introducing natural light via polycarbonate cladding, passive heating during winter sun angles, and summer ventilation through automated high-level windows.

The barn operates off-grid with solar power, rainwater harvesting, and reed-bed filtration, with a fully automated energy and water management system linked to on-site weather data. Durable, low-impact materials—such as reclaimed brick and concrete—support a no-nonsense, practical aesthetic.
